McConnell Fund Awards $753,734 in Spring Grants

Through the McConnell Fund at the Community Foundation, $753,734 in Spring Grants have been awarded to 39 nonprofits in the Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity, and Modoc counties. This is the largest amount of grant funds distributed from the McConnell Fund to date. Areas of need included infrastructure repairs like roofs, HVAC systems, and durable goods like computers and heavy equipment.

“Our community grant review panel really saw the depth of need in these rural community spaces like area granges and chose projects that served a wide swath of residents,” said Kerry Caranci, Chief Executive Officer at the Community Foundation. “Grants also were awarded to a mix of recreational, food, and child services agencies that needed foundational durable goods to assist their operations.”

For 23 years, the Community Foundation of the North State has managed The McConnell Fund, which receives financial support from The McConnell Foundation, an independent foundation with a mission to help build better communities through philanthropy. Through this long-standing partnership, over $13 million dollars has been distributed to local nonprofits and public entities throughout the North State.
