“Back to Business” is the theme of the most recent Community Foundation grant awards from the COVID-19 Relief Fund to organizations supporting residents impacted by the pandemic.
The needs identified for this third round of awards total $48,082 granted for the purchase of personal protective equipment, small business recovery assistance, support for residents experiencing food insecurity, food pantry purchases, summer lunch program support, and funding a public Wi-Fi hotspot for a rural Siskiyou County community.
Thanks to the generosity from community members and businesses in our region, the Community Foundation has disbursed donations to over 21 nonprofit service providers across Shasta, Siskiyou and Tehama counties. Our most recent partners addressing the immediate needs of our region’s vulnerable residents impacted by the Coronavirus include Forward Redding Foundation, JPR on behalf of the Cascade Theater, Siskiyou County Job Council on behalf of Siskiyou Farmers Markets, Mt. Shasta School Café, Hornbrook Community Association and the Salvation Army. To view the total relief fund grants equating to $207,182 since the inception of the fund, click HERE. “The impact of COVID-19 is reminding us that while we are connected and unified as a North State region, each community has its strengths and needs. These new grants hold a theme of getting back to business safely. In the Redding area, this looks like supporting an array of small businesses and cultural establishments. In Siskiyou County, this looks like incentivizing those with limited dollars to spend on food to support local farmers and increasing access to the internet. In Tehama County, this means feeding workers,” says Amanda Hutchings, Director of Community Impact. “We are grateful to our donors who trust and support our work to respond to our local communities in their own unique ways.”
