The McConnell Fund at the Community Foundation has awarded $632,142 in Spring grants to 29 nonprofits in the Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity, and Modoc counties. Areas of need included transport vehicles, HVAC systems, and durable goods like computers and heavy equipment.
“The McConnell Fund is one of our most generous grantmaking funds,” said Justine Lehman, Program Officer at the Community Foundation. “These grants support critical infrastructure needs that help these nonprofits provide services. It may not always be the most attractive thing to ask to for something like an air conditioning unit, but when community members in our rural areas rely on that park or library as a respite from the summer heat, it makes all the difference.”
For 24 years, the Community Foundation of the North State has managed The McConnell Fund, which receives financial support from The McConnell Foundation, an independent foundation with a mission to help build better communities through philanthropy. Through this long-standing partnership, over $14 million dollars has been distributed to local nonprofits and public entities throughout the North State.
