Weed Community Scholarship Fund
Roseburg Forest Products established the Weed Community Scholarship Fund in the aftermath of the Sept. 2, 2022, Mill Fire that damaged the historic Lincoln Heights neighborhood and nearby Lake Shastina.
The scholarship fund helps support Weed High School graduates and eligible non-traditional applicants who want to pursue their next level of education. Click here for eligibility requirements.
Roseburg Forest Products created the fund in 2023 with a $250,000 endowment. Recipients receive up to $5,000 per award renewable for up to four years if conditions are met. Generally, two new and/or renewing students are awarded annually. The fund supports vocational programs, two-year or four-year degrees at accredited colleges or universities, and GED completion.
Roseburg Forest Products is a family-owned timber and wood products company based in Oregon. The company has owned and operated the Weed Veneer mill since 1983, and the veneer it produces is used to make other Roseburg wood products, including plywood and composite panels. The company has a nearly 90-year legacy of giving back to the communities where it operates, and this scholarship fund is just one example of those efforts.
