North State Drought Response Fund
The Community Foundation’s North State Drought Response Fund will support communities experiencing the adverse affects of drought conditions.
Counties are currently experiencing “extreme drought” and “exceptional drought”; the highest possible tier in the NOAA/National Integrated Drought Information System. Exceptional drought includes fields left fallow/orchards removed, fire season lasts year-round and is extensive, survival of native plants & wildlife is low, among other tragic consequences.
Many residents are experiencing dry wells and a lack of accessible drinking water. Early solutions have been to provide portable water jugs for residents to haul water home from community water sources. This fund will adapt to needs as they evolve from here on out.
