Community Foundation Establishes Siskiyou County Fund

The Community Foundation of the North State is commemorating its 25th anniversary with the introduction of the Siskiyou County Fund. Partnering with local donors, this fund seeks to address urgent needs specific to Siskiyou County. The Foundation is distributing an initial $25,000 from the fund to area nonprofits throughout the year.

“I love living in a small town, except when it comes to raising money for local non-profits,” said Community Foundation Board Member Mark Clure. “We often end up seeking financial support from the same people and businesses repeatedly. The Siskiyou County Fund from the Community Foundation of the North State is a great concept that can provide additional resources that will only go to nonprofits right here. It’s an opportunity to contribute to our success!”

Since 2000, the Community Foundation has been working to impact the region through collective philanthropy. The Foundation started with $300,000 and seven funds and now stewards over 180 funds and holds $38 million in charitable assets. Combined with more than $65 million in grants and scholarships that have been distributed in the North State, the Foundation has generated over $100 million in impact over the last two and a half decades.

The Foundation’s impact includes over $26 million in grants for Siskiyou County nonprofits and $260,000 in scholarships to Siskiyou County students.

“The Community Foundation has been serving Siskiyou County since our infancy and it has been phenomenal to work alongside the nonprofit community and local donors over the past two and a half decades,” said Foundation CEO Kerry Caranci. “We are excited to launch the Siskiyou County Fund to continue building a more resilient Siskiyou County.”
