Women’s Fund Supports Five Redding-Area Nonprofit

The Women’s Fund has awarded a total of $39,460 in grants to five local organizations focusing on creating a better future for women and families in Redding. The Women’s Fund hosted a Giving Circle event on November 6th where the five organizations who had been selected to receive grant funding made presentations about the work their organization does.  Kid’s Turn was selected by vote to receive $3,850 in bonus funding. In addition, a total of $1,600 was donated to the other four organizations. The Women’s Fund is part of a global organization of Women’s Funds focusing on collaborative philanthropy.

Fall Awards were granted to the following organizations:

Girls Inc. of Northern Sacramento Valley

$10,000

Fund the spring portion of three programs at low-income schools

Kids’ Turn N. CA Center for Family Awareness

$10,000

Provide one whole-family workshop in Redding to serve at least 60 Shasta County family members

Northern Valley Catholic Social Service

$10,000

Provide security deposit loans for residents of Shasta County (in the geographic boundary of The Women’s Fund) who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless

Raising Shasta

$6,850

For training costs for staff to be trained in evidence-based programs that support working with at-risk women and children in Shasta County

Shasta Family YMCA

$2,610

For staffing costs to facilitate a women’s peer support group in partnership with Public Health
