Shasta Regional Community Foundation announces the rapid release of its first round of COVID-19 Relief Fund grants to organizations at the front lines of this crisis.
Thanks to donations from The California Endowment, The Ford Family Foundation and generous donors in our communities, $104,500 in grants are on their way to nine nonprofits across Shasta, Siskiyou and Tehama counties who are addressing the immediate needs of our region’s most vulnerable residents impacted by the Coronavirus.
Funding will support local food banks through food purchases, provide fuel for meal delivery, aid in low-cost childcare for essential workers, and more. Recipients include Siskiyou Community Food Bank, Siskiyou Food Assistance, Great Northern Services, Siskiyou Community Resource Collaborative, Shasta Family YMCA, Dignity Health Connected Living, Living Hope Compassion Ministries, The Salvation Army and Corning Christian Assistance.
“Many of our north state neighbors are currently facing economic hardships and food insecurity. We are heartened to see our community come together so quickly to support one another during these uncertain times.” said Kerry Caranci, Community Foundation CEO. “Our staff continues to monitor the immediate needs of organizations in our region that are performing the important response work that supports emerging challenges.”
